Lights Out? CNet Predicts Circuit City's Demise.

I don't dig Circuit City. I don't mean to put it that way, but with all of the bad publicity revolving around Firedog and stolen pictures off of laptops, the mass separation of all their knowledgeable and most profitable salespeople staff and not to mention those bloody painful mail-in rebates. (Gah!) What could they expect? Poor management breeds poor sales and voila! You earn yourself a big fat label named FAIL.

Here are some other reasons for their opinion:
  • Circuit City incurred a loss of $8 million in 2007 -a sharp contrast from its 2006 profit of $139 million.
  • Circuit City's market cap is just $680 million. Compare that to Best Buy's $17.26 billion.
  • In addition Circuit City also incurred a loss of $207 million in the first quarter 2008 with revenues of just $3 billion.

Update 04/14/2008: Blockerbuster has just put in a $6 per share bid to buy out Circuit City. A loser buying out a loser? We'll see.
