Foleo's Cousin Celio

Not to long ago, I did a review of the 'Dead On Arrival' Palm Foleo. An interesting idea that I thought was doomed to fail and eventually never made it to market.

Recap: The Foleo was a mobile companion or what they called a supplementary keyboard and display ala Laptop / UMPC (ultra mobile personal computer) that worked in conjunction with a Palm smartphone. It boasted a 10-inch widescreen display and a full-size keyboard, with any edits to documents made on one device automatically reflected on the other thanks to the device's Bluetooth connectivity. The device also promised built-in WiFi, and a battery life of about 5 hours on a single charge.

Now this isn't too bad an idea really.. except that for $500 after rebate?

I. Could. Just. Buy. A. Laptop.*

Which is my issue with UMPC's in general. I mean, yea, they're small and have almost as much computing power as a PC.. Um. yea. That's it.

All for a lot more $$ than a comparible lightweight notebook computer.

Although, while on vacation last week I almost wished I had one of these as I spent some time with an Aunt who still has dial up! (I mean.. Auntie A... What's up with that?)

Anywayz, the Celio is to Windows Mobile devices what the Foleo was to be for Palm products.
Will this sell? It's the same price, can perform many of the same functions...
Why not just buy a sub $600 laptop and get a whole lot more computing out of it?

I dunno. We'll see.
