This week at CES 2008 Sony and Samsung displayed their much ballyhoo'd first gen Organic light-emitting diode TV's with Sony to be the first to the US market this month with 11 inches of goodness for $2,500.
'What's the big deal' you say?
- OLED screens are only 3mm thick
- Contrast ratio is 1,000,000 to 1. (Comparitively, the market leading Pioneer Kuros LCD has a contrast ratio of about 15,000/20,000 to 1.)
- Very deep blacks
- Bright colors
- Excellent response times with a clear blur free picture
Samsung and Sony also displayed prototype 31 & 27 inchers as well. Hopefully we'll see these at the local Best Buy soon.
Stay tuned!
