Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD

Blu-Ray to be Victorious?

According to... everybody, Blu-Ray may just turn out to be the winner of the HD Format Wars. Paramount thanks to an out clause in their contract with the HD-DVD camp, will be able to publish Blu Ray titles since Warner Bros has decided to go 100% Blu-Ray.

New Line joined the total Blu-Ray fray last week and today the Daily Insider reported that Universal will start to publish Blu-Ray titles as well, while not necessarily discontinuing to produce HD-DVD's.

In addition, there are the rumors that those who bought up all those sub $100 Toshiba HD DVD players on black Friday have been returning them in droves. (Toshiba says this is bunk).

Hmmm. Me thinks that something mischievous is afoot, as repeated rumors of Target's defection to Blu Ray exclusivity turned out to be false as well as the lie that Microsoft, via Reuters, was considering providing Blu-Ray support for the XBox 360.

Will HD-DVD turn out to be a dead horse? We'll see.
Like I've said before regarding buying either of these formats...
Wait for it...
Wait for it....

Update: Toshiba has slashed prices on their HD DVD players to as low as $150 bucks it seems in an effort to push mass market adoption. Will it work? At this point? I think not.
